Hogmanay 2010 was in the midst of Scotland's longest period of sub-zero temperatures for fifty years. Although the weather caused some hardship, it created an arctic landscape of extraordinary beauty. Trees line the bank at the head of the partially frozen River Ullapool, on a memorable New Year's Day in the glen.
